Montessori teaching is considered one of the most effective methods of teaching that helps to develop a child's social, cognitive, and motor skills. Montessori teacher training courses guide teachers to a great extent so that they maintain an authentic Montessori classroom ambiance. Circle time activities have created a massive impact on the growth of young children.
Montessori parenting, on the other hand, is not a difficult task but parents must know certain techniques to inculcate Montessori methods in children. A proper schedule and routine are required based on which kids will learn to do tasks assigned to them. In Montessori preschools and primary schools, circle time sessions are practiced which are extremely beneficial.
But the question that arises is that what is circle time?
Circle Time:
A circle time is a specific method of increasing the relationship bond children inside a classroom where they are clubbed together in groups and given tools to play. Children learn to work together and incur abilities like team management, unity, respecting each other, and so on.
Circle time is one of those Montessori activities that help children to become stronger in thinking, looking, speaking, listening, and focusing. Montessori educators take good care of kids and make sure that they are learning the methods by their heart. A Montessori circle time routine if done regularly, will accelerate the progress of children like never before.
Montessori Parenting:
At home, parents cannot get many children to make them sit in a circle and practice a circle time routine like that in Montessori schools. Instead, they can take play with tools along with their children and thus can assess their developmental rate. Parents should have a sharp observation of how their children are behaving and growing.
The first thing that parents have to keep in mind is that their expectation level from children should be realistic. It will be utter stupid if expectations being set do not match the capabilities of children and this can generate a sense of insecurities in children. Parents should remember that they and their kids are both in the same game and they will have to grow together, hand in hand.
Let your child feel that you respect him/her a lot. Parents must successfully inculcate the value of mutual respect in their children. Children always want to be loved and pampered, and feel secure. Thus, if they do any mistakes, do not rebuke them or talk to them very rudely. You must be composed enough to make them understand where they have gone wrong and make sure that the same mistake does not happen next time.
Expectations from children should be consistent as well. Let's say a child loves painting using crayons and other coloring objects. Whenever he/she will prepare for painting, you must let him/her that cleaning up the mess after the painting session is a major task. A child should be prepared in such a way that he/she should never step back from being responsible.
Give your child options to choose one and respect their choices. For example, if you're cooking something for lunch, ask them what they would love to have. Ask them what they would like to have in between tacos or tortillas and prepare the dish according to their choices. This will create an impression that you respect their values.
Always observe what fascinates your child and it can be anything. If you feel a new hobby of your child is really interesting and an activity that can elevate their growth rate, support him/her. Thus, you shall be able to notice what are the strengths and weaknesses and this helps you to formulate better strategies to convert those weaknesses into strengths.
While playing with them help them focus deeply by not talking much. Words often lead to a loss of concentration. Show them the procedure first and then observe how focused they are while doing the task.
Making a child independent is another motto of the Montessori method of study. If your child asks that where is his/her crayon box is, ask him/her where did he keep it for the last time. This in turn will help a child to become more cautious and his concentration level will increase a lot. They will gradually become independent and will learn how to keep a track of their things.
Montessori teacher training courses have crafted a curriculum that has all these teaching methods which a Montessori educator learns before joining an educational institution. Parents can also learn such approaches so that they can help a child to develop more and become independent.
