Do Not Let Negativity Overshadow Your Positive Aura

There have been multiple days on a day-to-day basis where unwanted intrusive thoughts give rise to anxiety disorders. There are different types of intrusive thoughts and the reasons behind these thoughts can be multiple. If you search on any SERP asking why bad thoughts come to mind, you can see that the search per second is more than 3 crores. People often wonder what causes bad thoughts and they even try various methods to prevent negative thoughts.

P.S: Negative thoughts do not make one a bad person!

Disturbing Thoughts

However, teacher training Singapore has studied many people irrespective of their age and has drawn a conclusion that this kind of thought like negative or disturbing thoughts are outcomes of certain factors. Mental health professionals have supported this conclusion and have listed causes that invoke negative thoughts. Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), is a serious issue that alters the mental health conditions of people.

SCIENCE BEHIND NEGATIVE THOUGHTS?

In the long run of becoming perfectionists, people tend to do everything perfectly from time to time. Owing to this, they are always scared of negative outcomes and focus on the negative aspects more. Scientifically, people with a kind of thought process often experience the impact of cortisol more than dopamine. Let’s see how these two hormones work with the body system.

On certain days we feel very light. We are confident to deal with any challenge and positive thoughts overflow our system. Dopamine, also known as the happy hormone, is the reason behind it. Sometimes, we always anticipate good things to happen to us and that mood triggers the release of the dopamine hormone. Well, every positive aura has an alter-ego, and over here, the evil is known as Cortisol, the hormone that elevates the stress level.

Well, the major purpose of cortisol is to prevent us from facing any danger. For example, we are walking in the street, and suddenly the green light changes to red light. This is a positive side because it keeps the brain alert. But it has an adverse effect on people who always have negative thought patterns. They experience intrusive thoughts and remain gloomy always.

HOW DO YOU CLEAR YOUR MIND FROM NEGATIVE THOUGHTS?

Professional development gets hampered a lot when your mind is full of disturbing thoughts. Mental health professionals or doctors have said that it is not a switch system where you can toggle the switch and get the mood you want. There will be thoughts including positive and negative aspects but problems arise when the level of negativity surpasses that of positive vibes.

Replacing negative thoughts is definitely a tough job but why should we not give it a try? These negative thought patterns act like parasites and eventually will hit depression. If you have anxiety orders then you must adopt rules to get rid of negative or disturbing thoughts. However, if you practice these four steps you can eventually escape from repetitive negative thoughts.

Every time a negative thought hits your brain, note the moment or the exact cause behind it. It can be based on any situation, any word, etc., and keep a record of that trigger. It’s okay to feel sad, nervous, scared, and hopeless. The more you acknowledge this fact the better will be for you. You must understand that all these 4 emotions are human instincts and to get carried away is definitely natural.

The 3rd step will be easier if you acknowledge that negative thoughts are HAMPERING you. Remember, you have a purpose to exist in this world, and your contribution irrespective of the intensity is worthy. Therefore, you cannot afford to stay down and let go of all your duties and responsibilities. Thus, you have to stand up for yourself and always believe in yourself. There are billion people across the globe who have failed several times but once they gathered all their courage and stood up, there was no looking back.

Chalk out your goals and try to recall things that you love or used to love but now no more feel interested. Let’s say, you used to love creating objects by cutting paper but now due to many reasons you do not do those. Force yourself once and try doing so once again. You will feel lethargic to do it once you restart but trust the process. Make this a habit and begin with spending 10 minutes behind it every day. If you want to shift to some different hobby, go for it.

As long as you’re not harming anyone or yourself intentionally, do not stop yourself from doing the thing that your heart is craving. There will be people with judgemental minds everywhere around you but their opinions should never bother you. It is because they are not in your shoes and they do not know that battle you have gone through. Similarly, you should also keep one thing in mind you’re not in somebody’s shoes so you should never judge a book by its cover.

The earlier you’ll free yourself from the necessity to judge other people, the smoother will be the process of getting yourself away from negative thoughts. Judging other people will generate disturbing thoughts and eventually, you’ll try to think more and work less. There will be moments when you’ll get thoughts about the value of your life, your expectations, and your outcomes. As soon as you think those, write those down. Do not focus on the pattern of writing or grammatical error, just scribble whatever comes to your mind.

Acceptance is the mantra and you must try to express gratitude. The more you accept scenarios and work on them rather than complaining and nagging, the better will be the result. Suppose, you’ve brewed a cup of hot coffee in the morning and it tastes awesome. You can utter sentences like, I LOVE HOW THIS COFFEE TASTES loudly. When positive words reach your ears and ultimately reach the brain, it triggers the flow of dopamine. You can feel optimism once again.

Entering the world of Montessori has been an eye-opening experience as I have only been exposed to a standard education system such as the kindergarten. It has been very useful in our household as well as I learn to allow my child to be more independent and less forceful. I am very grateful for the education. I have received and I hope to advance my skills in the future.

I am now more motivated to do my work well and succeed. It is so fulfilling when you can guide children in their yearning to learn, thrive, explore and towards becoming independent. I am an IEYC teacher and a Montessori learning assistant in the same school. I am presently working in Saigon Star International school.
